Well, hurricane 'Dependicitia' left behind irreparable damage, so that part of the region had to be completely deconstructed. All that's left of the old Riverside are fond memories and the images in this CJ...

Fortunately the forests, rivers and coastlines withstood the catastrophe well, and the area is now re-developed as 'New Riverside'.

The left bank of the river has become home to a fleet of fishing boats, a small marina and some basic industry plus housing. The neighbouring communities are sending workers en masse to help with the rebuilding and set up a major trainstation as well. Thanks for that ...

To recover losses (like the new ARS-Systems, the ritzy Major's Estate, countless family homes and the complete infrastructure), the plans for the right riverbank include posh residentials and a rich waterfront with lots of  hotels to attract more tourists.

An even larger ARS is planned for the new technology park opening soon, most probably in a nearby area. The ARS-engineers have graciously sent new parts to make planning and construction easier.

Some of the earlier pieces could be salvaged to replace the river's destroyed canal-transitions.

I seem to be a lot better at making things for cities than actually making the cities :)

Well, takes all kinds ... what would those cities be without all these 'things' ... ;o))

I like that idea you had for the solar power plant island and yes, the de-construction site is cool.

Well it doesn't really matter if you are someone that is good at making lots or using them...  it is pretty much win / win all round.

Nice update!
I really like the way you used those ARS end pieces. They fit the use perfectly.... and it's not even an industrial setting!

nice look to all of it, I say you do a pretty great job at spiffing up the place after a hurricane...

The last of the Set1 ARS pieces should be coming soon, keep your eyes open for the Flat Canals.

After the Hurricane

The New Marina is well on its way, only the embedded/surrounding growables take their time ;-)
A hard piece of work, combining Marina, OWW/Oww-SV, Boardwalk/Bw-RCI and Piers plus various accessories.
[It would be nice to have a simpler 1x to just end the floating docks, without a large building or ending the whole Marina alltogether ]

Overview Marina

The various Marinabuildings, with the fine Chandlery being a true eyecatcher

Some of the SV Shops

Fisherman's Wharf

A classy little hotel with its own mini-marina

A small outcrop holds a Ferry landing and the Firestation

Across the river things have settled in, though traffic is sort of heavy. The Sims take no notice of the newly established ferry-service, instead they keep overcrowding the watertaxis (sth. like 300 percent). Trains and roads are usually pretty clogged as well.

Meanwhile, back in Harborville, dismantling the old district goes on at a frantic pace, while the foundation for a new large office-complex is already in the works.

It will be interesting to see what the new developments will look like when completed. :yahoo_think:

Well, the present administration submitted ambitious plans for a new government/business district with buildings rising higher than current construction-rules allow (using funds of undisclosed origins). The 'Citizens Coalition Against Skyline Destruction' organised protests and demonstrations. The current Mayor is not expected to be re-elected.

ughh ... can't really remember, I'm a capable hunter, but a lousy administrator ;-)
So you must search the Stex for 'Construction', 'Cranes', 'Maintenance' and similar. I know that's tough, as their keywords seem to be rather scrambled  :whistling:
One I do remember - it's the 'Highway Construction Set' by Andreas - great set, I still have to build a scene around that ... some day ...
